Metadata Specifications
In this section, you'll find explanations of the content metadata attributes used in Frequency Studio, along with the schema for each attribute.
Genre
Genre is a two-level hierarchy used to categorize content. It must be sent as both a genre and sub-genre through one of the ingestion methods outlined in this section. A genre is required for all videos, all integration points (e.g., each MRSS feed can have a different genre), or per Content Producer. Videos with genres that do not match this schema will be rejected.
For a complete list of available sub-genres, please refer to Genres and Subgenres for a complete list of available subgenres. If you require additional genres, please contact support.
Parental Rating
Parental Rating represents the age-appropriate content for the selected country. Within each country, there is a set of ratings corresponding to ratings boards where available, and a generic set where they are not. This rating will be converted into the appropriate rating for each country where the content is played.
For a comprehensive list of available ratings, please see Parental Rating.
Content Format
Content Format is a generic field that categorizes content into major categories such as "show," "interstitial," or "movie." It also determines how content integrates with other features in Frequency Studio, such as Series Metadata or if it can be used to automate Dynamic Interstitials.
To view the complete list of available content formats, please refer to Content Format.
Content Type
Content Type is used to describe the video and can pertain to multiple categories such as "episode," "behind the scenes," or "trailers." It represents a broad classification of content based on its pattern, motif, or theme.
To explore the full list of available content types, please visit Content Type.
Series Metadata
Individual videos may be associated with Series metadata during content ingestion or updated on the Video Details page. Series metadata is considered optional and is not required for ingestion.
Series metadata can be utilized during scheduling to facilitate content library searches and populate EPG metadata.
